Hackers use Botnet to steal over 60GB of data, says AVG.

AVG internet security company yesterday announced that over 55000 computers around the world lost data of aproximate 60GB to criminal or hackers who confortably used Botnet.

The botnet, which AVG has dubbed 'Mumba', has compromised systems in the UK, as well as in the US, Germany and Spain, the company said in a report released on Monday. The stolen credentials found by AVG's researchers includes bank account numbers, credit card details and social-networking logins.

Malware that attacks FACEBOOK USERS "Koobface" is back!

The persistent malware that plagues Facebook users has reared its ugly head yet again.

A new round of e-mails aimed at launching the worm onto the PCs of unsuspecting users has been discovered by researchers for the security vendor ESET, according to the company's blog.

Uncovered by ESET researchers in Latin America, this latest Koobface campaign is sending Facebook users messages with a link that claims to direct them to videos of sexual encounters. The link included in the e-mails tells the user to download a video codec to view the X-rated content. But instead of delivering the goods, the link calls up a download that launches the Koobface malware, thus infecting its intended victim.

Egypt Identified as one of top Trojan creating countries.

Egypt is responsible for three per cent of the world’s malware designed to steal computer passwords according to Cairo ICT 2010 exhibitor Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions.

Speaking on the sidelines of one of the region’s biggest information and telecommunications technology events, Tarek Kuzbari, Managing Director of Kaspersky Lab, Middle East, said that Egypt was identified as the region’s top creator of PSW Trojans, a special version of malware specifically designed to steal passwords and log in details from computer users.
